The Best of Last Week: 2.1.16 - 2.7.16

Keeping it brief this week. Here are some bangers:

"For My People" - Young Thug X Duke

It's not Slime Season yet, but I'm Up has been an excellent consolation prize.

"Voodoo" - Allen Stone

I finally listened to you, Ari. Allen Stone's something serious.

"Skipping Stones" - Gallant X Jhené Aiko

Gallant is phenomenal, but it'd be foolish not to mention that Ms. Aiko is the best feature in music right now. She's nailed her collabs with Drake, Childish Gambino, Big Sean, and dropped the second funniest line of 2015. Her solo work isn't amazing, but I could listen to her features for days.

BEST CONCERT OF LAST WEEK: Anderson .Paak @ S.O.B.'s

Don't. Forget. The. Dot.

Paak slid all over the stage, grooving to his amazing Malibu and strays cuts from Venice and Dre's Compton. He also hopped on a drum kit and sang, proving skills hadn't faded after his years as a session drummer. Throw on top of that a cover of Curtis Mayfield's "The Makings of You", a quote of Bowie's "Let's Dance", and showstopping renditions of "Come Down" and "Room In Here", and Anderson .Paak was easily the best show I've seen so far this year.

BEST OF NOT LAST WEEK: "Panda" - Desiigner

BEST OF LAST WEEK: "Formation" - Beyoncé

Sorry, Rihanna: there's only one queen in pop.
